This Privacy Policy describes how RUT - Are you there? (“RUT,” developed and operated by Quemma Labs) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the RUT app on iOS or Android.

1. Information We Collect

We collect and process the following minimal information necessary to provide our service:

  • Device identifier (UUID) for authentication and service provision
  • Push notification tokens for sending check-in reminders
  • Emergency contact name and email address
  • Check-in timestamps and history
  • Check-in interval preferences (1, 2, or 3 days)
  • Notification preferences (whether to receive push notifications)
  • Technical data: app version, device type, operating system

We do NOT collect: location data, browsing history, contacts list, photos, or any other personal information beyond what is stated above.

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland, we process your data based on:

  • Consent: You provide explicit consent when checking in and agreeing to this policy
  • Legitimate interests: To provide safety monitoring services you requested

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to:

  • Authenticate your device and maintain your account
  • Track your check-in status and send reminders
  • Send push notifications when you miss check-ins (if enabled in settings)
  • Send emergency alerts to your designated contact when check-ins are missed
  • Maintain and improve service functionality
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data:

  • With your designated emergency contact (when you miss check-ins)
  • With Expo Push Notification Service (to deliver push notifications to your device)
  • With service providers who assist in operating our service (under strict confidentiality agreements)
  • When required by law or to protect rights and safety
  • In connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, etc.)

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption of data at rest
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Access controls and authentication

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
